It's that wonderful time of year when Burlington Vermont's Church Street Marketplace awakens more then ever as it is the Holiday season! The snow falls in the evening as the wonderful lights adorn the length of this famous Burlington destination. Even if you are not shopping, a peaceful walk along the street is a great way to spend a winter night here in Vermont. Along with the lights, the top of Church Street holds the always massive Christmas tree. What some of you might not know about this tree, is that every year these trees are donated from someone's home right here in Vermont. Yes, local tree companies volunteer their time to go to a Vermont Residence and cut down a tree to make it's way to the marketplace for the Holiday season. Two years back, the tree pictured here was actually taken from my brothers house in Colchester, he donated the tree from his families home, and were able to enjoy it in a whole new light. Until this happened, I was not aware, I thought a tree was just shipped in from somewhere out there...but this makes it all that much more special for Vermont. Picture: Paul Varricchione
