For 30 plus years now I have
been working with buyers and sellers who are in the middle of the process known
as “Downsizing”. On the surface I know what the term means, but until now
I didn’t realize just how tough it can be to work through. Back in 2002 I
built a sprawling 3200 square foot home, with 3 bedrooms and 4 baths not to

walkout basement. Heck, I could throw some big parties, in fact I had
service for 80 people. I also had a massive gym that would rival anything
found in the Burlington area. Of course I had to have a pool table as

prior 12 years. Now there are some things I just couldn’t part with,
primarily art work. But I had a lot to sell, give away or haul to the
dump. My new place is a mere 1000 square feet in a downtown high-rise
with just one parking space. Thankfully the buyer of my home bought most
of my furniture and yard equipment, but I still had to rent two storage units
for things I thought I would need again. The gym equipment was given
away, sold the pool table dirt cheap, help a moderately successful garage sale,
donated much of the stuff to Goodwill, and then we took several truck loads to

to have purged and live with so much less. I even got rid of tons of
clothes, I had to for closet space is at a premium in my wonderful new condo.
So I can now understand what it is like to “Downsize”, a term I now truly
