Strawberry season is upon us in Vermont. Whether it’s
pie, jam, fresh from the field or shortcake (warm with butter and whipped cream
just like my Grandmother used to make it), most of us have a favorite. There
are an abundance of local places to pick berries; Mazza’s in Colchester, The
Berry Farm in Charlotte and Norris Berry Farm in Hinesburg just to name a few.
Some towns even have Strawberry festivals where you’ll find everything you ever
wanted made with this tasty fruit.
Raspberry and blueberry seasons will come up next and
before you know it we’ll be pressing cider and baking apple pies. Summertime in
Vermont offers so many wonderful locally grown fruits and vegetables, explore
the farm stands and farmers markets near you and who knows what delicious
things you’ll find!
